The foundations of Costantini's career draws on 20th century art catching the dawn of this age - the tidy, harmonious volumes in the small place of the composition. A space that the emptiness between the object and light makes bigger than it is. Also the velvet tones blended with great care give the impression of lightness in the clear expression of volumes. On this clear balance between drawing and colour hangs the magic of flowers, books, vases as well as on unreality, on un - likeness in the arrangement of objects on the plane and in the background.

Through his pictures Costantini dispays his artistic maturity and progressive evolution. In his still life great, elaborate, well-chosen neatness and well-balanced painting can be noticed. He usually frames his compositions in the ideal triangle by Leonardo, where volumes stand out. Colour shades, skilfully blended, give all the elements a relaxing romantic view of the past. The neat colour, precise containment, lineal drawing offer a clear key to the inner man. Costantini is also a lanscape painter. In his relaxing views can be seen a suffused romantic sadness, due to the contrasting warm and cold colours. Besides, an indisputable skill in perspectives lets us overpass the representation and leads the eye to wander, looking for what is not represented.
1986 - Fernanda Conti

The artist's graphics is so delicate that it exquisitly blends in soft chromatic paste. Thus, perfection, which at first sight on the technical level may appear almost figurative caption, instead finds the stimulus to turn into genuine poetry. A pipe, a box of matches, a book, a notebook and an oil lamp are each of them one of the "groups" which inspite of being "still life", through Vittorio Costantini's colour language turn into something real, reminding us of the auld lang syne. They are pictures, but at the same time they could be Guido Gozzano's poems. Of course, a painter, when art inspires him, can create poetry.
1978 - Renzo Sanson

Costantini's painting is clearly figurative with subjects ranging from portraits to landscapes, but mainly still life: flowers, fruit, game, fish and household goods. His figurative language is energetic, but quiet and serene, well-constructed, framed with effective rhythms. Well-balanced as well in the materialized, the colour keeps basic tones, consistent with the themes. Sometimes pictures glow with deep chromatism which suggests metaphysical atmospheres. Costantini's inspiration is rooted in the plastic and realistic fascination of the Italian 20th century art. A concrete, quiet everyday realism, far from tragic or ideological meanings, but close to simple existential, and confidential truth. His works are touched by the exquisite delicacy typical of the artists who tell the nostalgia of a vanishing world - simple and clean, quiet and luminous.
1990 Ennio Concarotti
